A STATE-of-the-art facility in Newport is playing host to Manchester City during their brief stay in South Wales.

Dragon Park has been used as a training base by Pep Guardiola's side today ahead of his side's visit to Swansea City in the EFL Cup tonight.

City are set to play at the Liberty Stadium again on Saturday in the Premier League and Guardiola told Sky Sports that he is keen to stay local to save travelling back to Manchester.

It is also believed that former Arsenal and Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta, who now coaches at City, recommended that the first team train at the £5 million site.

Arteta is one of several former footballers such as Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Craig Bellamy and current Newport County boss Warren Feeney, who have graduated from the lauded FAW coaching scheme conducted at Dragon Park.

The facility was funded with investment from UEFA, the Football Association of Wales (FAW), Sport Wales and Fifa, opened three years ago.
