A FAMILY-FRIENDLY cycling festival will be taking place across the weekend at Tredegar House in Newport.

The first Newport Family Cycling Festival has been designed to get families out on their bikes as well as highlighting local cycle paths in the area.

The festival is joint venture between the National Trust, SUSTRANS Cymru and RSPB Cymru.

The weekend will be split into two days, with tomorrow’s 'Family Day' in the grounds focusing on family-orientated activities.

Savage Skills will be holding mountain bike stunt displays at 11.15am, 12.15pm, 1.15pm, 2.15pm and 3.15pm.

Cycling proficiency lessons, which have sold out, will be provided between 11am – 1pm and 3pm – 5pm.

Other stalls will be active throughout the day from 11am - 4pm.

On Sunday’s ‘Adventure Day’, SUSTRANS Cymru are running two rides for more accomplished riders to the Newport Wetlands National Reserve and the National Roman Legion Museum in Caerleon.

These guided rides offsite have since sold out, but families are still invited to come down for the day to ‘soak up the atmosphere’.
