A 48 hour dispersal order has been put into place in the Greenmeadow area of Cwmbran following ongoing reports of disorder and criminal damage in the area.

The order commenced at 4pm yesterday afternoon, (Friday, September 23) and will continue until 4pm on Sunday (September 25).

The designated area of the order includes Clyffes, Barnets, Woolpitch, Bowleaze, Byways, Ravenscourt, Mere Path, Marloes Path, Ty Gwyn Road from junction of Ty Gwyn Way to Archer Road and all other roads and streets in between.

Officers will be patrolling the area and will have the authority to direct anyone behaving anti-socially away from the area.

If they return to that area after being moved on, they face being arrested.

Local Police Inspector David Morgan said: "I have authorised this dispersal order in order to continue tackling the issues of criminal damage and public order in the Greenmeadow area.

"My officers have conducted foot patrols throughout the evenings and have dispersed youths from the affected areas.

"We have listened to the victims of the criminal damage offences that took place on Tuesday and Wednesday and are determined to provide reassurance to this affected community.

"We are working closely with our key partners to ensure that long term solutions can be identified.

"Torfaen County Borough Council’s Community Safety Department is installing CCTV and Bron Afon will take action against their tenants if their children are found to be responsible."
