DOCTORS from Gwent are involved in designing a new app intended to help people determine whether they, or their loved ones, are likely to have an eating disorder.
It is being developed for use by the public in a link-up between Aneurin Bevan and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Boards and Swansea University.
Free to use, it is expected to be available early next year. The project benefits from funding by the Welsh Government-backed Swansea Healthcare Innovation Partnership Programme (SHIPP).
An all-Wales initiative, it aims to speed up the introduction of healthcare innovations in the NHS.
Funded projects are chosen based on their commercial viability and potential long term impact.
“This programme is about developing new innovative technologies to improve outcomes for patients and getting them into the hands of clinicians faster, whilst making money spent on the NHS go further,” said health secretary Vaughan Gething.
“As well as improving health and care services the SHIPP programme aims to create new businesses.”
