NEWPORT's Christmas lights will be switched-on on Saturday, November 12 at 5pm.
Newport NOW is the lead organiser of the event and, from noon, a stage will be set up at the junction of Charles Street and Commercial Street.
Adrian Evans, Newport NOW manager, said: "There'll be celebrity and local acts performing throughout the afternoon as well as a fun fair and face painting.
"The indoor market will host a Santa's Grotto, which will be taking place from November 12 until Christmas."
The Christmas lights switch-on coincides with the first anniversary of the opening of Friars Walk, which are also organising events.
Among others, there will be street theatre, arts and crafts workshops and a fireworks display.
A Friars Walk spokeswoman said: "There'll be lots of thing happening to attract as many people as possible."
More information will be announced next week.
