WALES and Gwent fell silent this morning to remember those who died in the Aberfan disaster 50 years ago today.
116 children and 28 adults died when a coal tip collapsed and slid down a hillside, crashing into to the village below.
Events were held in Newport city centre and across Gwent where the silence was observed.
