8.50am UPDATE:

A BUILD-UP of slow moving traffic has led to ongoing large queues around junction 24 of the M4 at the Coldra.

Tailbacks have hit the M4 in both directions as commuters remain cautious with heavy fog having a large impact.

Traffic is also getting worse on the roads joining and leaving the M4 in Monthmouthshire by the A449 and the A48 both at the Coldra and at junction 23 by Magor.

7.50am UPDATE:

DRIVERS have been warned as freezing fog covers much of Gwernt this morning.

The yellow weather warning from by the Met Office came into effect from 5pm yesterday.

It will remain in place until 11am this morning.

The Met Office said: "Areas of freezing fog, some dense, are expected to form again during Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

"The fog will become widespread in places, most likely in the southwest of the warning area early in the night and then in other areas later in the night and early on Tuesday morning.

"Driving conditions will be difficult with journeys likely to take longer than usual and delays to air travel are possible."
