A PLAN to sell derelict toilets which caused anger among people has been delayed, it has been revealed.
Yesterday, the South Wales Argus reported that grade II listed toilets, on Alexandra Road, Pill, were no longer going to be auctioned.
The former men's public toilets block - owned by Newport City Council - was scheduled to be auctioned on Thursday, February 2.
A spokeswoman from Newport council said: "Newport council has received some expressions of interest in the block from local people, including small businesses, since the intention to sell it was announced.
"We are allowing time for them to explore those options to purchase and develop the building so, although the council still plans to dispose of the former toilets, the sale has been deferred."
