THE broadcaster and writer Jeremy Paxman will soon be seen on TV aboard the SARA Lifeboat.

The team from Beachley took the TV presenter out in the lifeboat to make part of a documentary about the River Severn.

This is one the episodes of new series called Rivers with Jeremy Paxman, which starts this Sunday on Channel 4.

He and his film crew visited the SARA Beachley Station in September last year, and were taken out on the Station’s two large boats.

Mr Paxman was very interested in the work of the station, asking about the boat maintenance, the relative numbers of female crew and other matters.

Mervyn Fleming, commander at SARA’s Beachley and Newport Lifeboat and Rescue Stations said: “It was our pleasure to host Jeremy and to be able to help with this film about the river we know so well”.
