THE future of a youth organisation that was destroyed in a fire this month will be discussed today .

Leigh Rowland from the Cwmbran Centre For Young People who operated Randomz Ltd will be meeting with the Assembly Member for Torfaen Lynne Neagle, Cllr Anthony Hunt, Cllr David Daniels and Torfaen’s Sports Development Manager Stuart Lawrence to discuss the future of the youth enterprise centre.

Mr Rowland said: “We are planning on rebuilding and this meeting will give us some starting point.”

He said they have not been told why the fire started, but said the organisation have been “overwhelmed” by the support they have been shown.

“We have been contacted by over 140 local people and businesses with offers of support.

“People who want to do things for us and with us. We have had messages of support from organisations in America, Australia and 15 charities across England who we have worked with.

“Local youth services have pledged their support and the young people have been fantastic and want to help us in any way they can.”

Social Soundwaves owner Gareth Leaman said he was allowed into the premises with a member of the fire forensics team on Friday to see if anything could be saved. He said: “I still had a small bit of hope I could salvage something from the studio, but I was wrong.”

Gareth Leaman from Newport captured the extent of the damage in photographs which show the studio’s equipment has been destroyed.

A number of fundraising events are been organised including a fundraiser by professional skateboarder and Dirty Sanchez member Lee Dainton.

A Just Giving page has been created to help raise funds for the community project and can be found at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Socialsoundwaves.
