A BLACKWOOD singing duo who are on ITV’s The Voice UK will be making a special appearance in Newport on Friday.

Into The Ark duo Dane Lloyd and Taylor Jones who chose Tom Jones to be their mentor on the show will be taking the stage in partnership with Newport Now, before their next appearance on The Voice this weekend.

Large half term crowds are expected to see the boys who are fast picking up fans across the country.

Newport Now, the city’s Business Improvement District will set up a stage performance in John Frost Square at 1pm.

They will also be busking around the ground at the Newport Gwent Dragons v Leinster game at Rodney Parade later in the day.

Alan Edwards, chair of Newport Now said: “These are two very talented local boys who are on the verge of huge success through The Voice. We’re hoping fans will flock into the city centre on Friday to show their support, and keep backing the boys if they get through to the public vote stage of the competition.”

The boys’ TV performance on the weekend, when Team Tom take part in the Battles round where they have to sing against a fellow contestant, will determine whether they get through to the live finals, so they’re hoping the people of Newport will keep them going in the competition.

Mr Lloyd and Mr Taylor said: “We’re excited to come back to our home city to play for the people of Newport. It’s great to see Newport up and coming again, and we can’t wait.”
