THE chief executive of a youth enterprise centre which was destroyed in a fire says he is feeling positive about the future.

Chief executive of Randomz Ltd Leigh Rowland says he feels the future is brighter for the centre following a meeting with Torfaen AM Lynne Neagle, Cllr Anthony Hunt, Cllr David Daniels and Torfaen’s sports development manager Stuart Lawrence.

Mr Rowland said: “With these people on board it does give us more direction for the future. We reviewed exactly what happened and reviewed what has happened since. We discussed Randomz’s needs and wants and the need for another building.

“Everyone felt that we offer a positive service and that it’s worthwhile. It was agreed that it needs supporting.”

At the meeting a number of community buildings were suggested as future premises for the organisation.

“It gives us hope that we will be relocated in catchment area,” said Mr Rowland.

“The community has come together after the fire. We have had offers of help and the connections we have through the council say they will help us with funding applications or work jointly with us to get us going.

“We were covered by insurance, but there will be lag between now and getting the money and we still have ongoing activities to fund. The contents were worth more than we can claim, but it could be worse.”

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service have said that no investigation had been carried out after they were advised that the building was unsafe for officers to enter. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
