MORE than 150 people attended a fitness class in Rogerstone, Newport, today.

The fitness class, which took place between 4pm and 5pm at the Old Avana bakeries, was a mixture of fitness classes Pound, a drumming-based cardio class, and Strong, which is High Intensity Interval Training.

The class celebrated the fact that Clare Woodward, owner of Evolve Fit, has been running fitness classes in Newport for six years.

Miss Woodward, from the Gaer, said she would like to give something back to the members of her Newport based fitness company.

The 37-year-old said: “What makes us unique is that we are a community, everyone supports each other.

"I am so grateful for everyone’s support, and wanted to show my appreciation by offering a free class to our members.

“We are also expanding soon and will be adding to our 18 weekly classes, so it’s a very exciting time for us.”

South Wales Argus:

"The instructors are helpful and everyone is friendly.

"It is an enjoyable form of exercise."

Jo Kendall, 32, of Beechwood, has been coming twice a week since October.

She said: "I come for fitness and weight loss and it's helping me.
