NEWPORT City Homes will be investing £1.6 million in a new housing site in Bettws, Newport.

The site in Monnow Way will include 11 new family homes and a bungalow equipped for those with disabilities. It will consist of nine two-bedroom houses and two three-bedroom houses with two allocated car park spaces per property.

Each home will include a fire sprinkler system, which can help protect residents in case of a fire.

Newport City Homes has hired Blaenavon-based contractor P&P Buildings to help develop the £1.6million site.

A spokeswoman for Newport City Homes said that the Welsh Government has approved almost £1 million social housing grant towards the new development.

The work is due to start in spring 2017, and Newport City Homes aims to complete the development early next year.

Newport City Homes’ head of development and regeneration, Rachel George said: “We are really excited to be working with a small local business on this development.

“Our plans should create a safer, more open and attractive space where families want to live.”
