A CWMBRAN man made “inappropriate remarks” to a woman before allegedly sexually assaulting her, a court has heard.
Harry Morgan, of Orchard Lane, denies sexually assaulting the woman last year.
Eugene Egan, opening the trial for the prosecution at Cardiff Crown Court yesterday, said: “The defendant made two inappropriate remarks
“He said the victim was ‘fit’. He then said he would like to make love to her.”
The court was then told, the 24-year-old inappropriately touched the woman shortly after making the remarks.
When interviewed by the police, Morgan said he had been drinking before the alleged incident.
He said he could not remember making the reported remarks, and that if he had inappropriately touched the woman it was unintentional.
“The issue for you to decide is whether this was a pure accident or was it a sexual assault,” Mr Egan told the jury.
The trial, which is expected to conclude today, will hear from four witnesses, including the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and the defendant.
Proceeding.
