POLICE attended the scene of an incident in Newport which left a car wedged on an embankment today.
Two men were arrested afterwards.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “At approximately 11:35am, officers attended Discovery Park on Barrack Hill in Newport following a concern of suspicious activity.
“Officers attempted to stop the vehicle which then caused damage to a police vehicle.
“A 22-year-old male from the Newport area was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs. A 24-year-old male also from the Newport area was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs and dangerous driving. Both are currently in police custody.”
Eyewitness Jim Sullivan said: “The car seemed to have gone up the embankment but bottomed out on the grass verge.
“Several marked and unmarked police vehicles were at the scene, including a riot-type van.”
