A CAMPAIGN flyer has emerged with a photo of the wrong Gwent town.

The Labour leaflets ,that were distributed in Monmouth, actually feature a photo of Abergavenny which is almost 17 miles away.

Above the photo is the heading ‘Your Monmouth Labour Town Council Candidates’.

As well as the photo mix-up the date of the town and county council elections is listed as March 4 rather than May 4.

When asked for a comment, the Labour Party's Monmouth Constituency secretary Adam Greenwood said: "Monmouthshire Labour Party regret the errors in some of our printed campaign material. We have produced over 100,000 flyers, in over 65 different forms, for more than 80 candidates and unfortunately the occasional error does creep in.

"There have also been a number of errors in the literature of other parties which we refrain from highlighting."

Labour Campaign Manager, Peter Marsh-Jenks, added: “The Labour Party is fielding more candidates than any other party in Monmouthshire, and this has caused panic in our opponents. It is perhaps not surprising that they wish to focus on printing rather than policies.”

Conservative MP for Monmouth David Davies said: "Just when you think Labour have reached peak incompetence they surprise you by getting worse.

"They want us to go back in time a few months to vote. It doesn’t bode well for them in election."
