A FATHER with a “ridiculous and outdated” view of women has been given a three-year community order, after being sentenced for sexual assault.

Harry Morgan, aged 24, of Orchard Lane, Cwmbran, was spared jail at Cardiff Crown Court, after being found guilty by a jury of sexually assaulting a woman in March last year. During the trial last month, the court heard Morgan told the victim she was “fit” and that he wanted to make love to her after he had been drinking on March 2, last year.

He denied the allegation but was found guilty by a majority verdict of 10-2.

The trial heard from four witnesses, including the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

During sentencing on Friday, recorder Mark Powell, said Morgan had been behaving irrationally before the assault and had taken drugs.

Shortly after making the remarks, Morgan is said to have sexually touched the woman as she walked past him.

“What you did that day was unforgivable,” said recorder Powell, during sentencing.

“Your behaviour was disgraceful, not to say disgusting, and you should be ashamed of yourself.”

Recorder Powell said he was concerned about Morgan’s attitude towards women.

He said Morgan’s remarks that women wearing makeup in work was inappropriate showed a lack of awareness and an “outdated” view.

But he added that Morgan had a young son who relied on his care.

Morgan was also made to pay prosecution costs of £400 and a victim surcharge of £85.

He was also ordered to complete a rehabilitation programme.

Recorder Powell added: “If you do not meet the requirements of the community order; you and as a consequence your son will face a very grim future.”
