MORE than 50 zumba fans took to the floor in Newport yesterday to raise money for a city-based charity.

A three-hour zumbathon organised by zumba teacher Mandy Knight, at the Beaufort Centre in St Julians, will provide vital funds to help the Ieuan The Lion Memorial Fund to continue its quest to provide free holidays for children and young people with a life limiting condition, and their families.

“It’s been good fun and for a great local cause,” she said.

“I’d been to a fundraising event at the Newport Centre, thought it was a lovely charity, and wanted to do something to help.

“Lots of the people in my classes came along and I’ve had five or six zumba teachers helping out.”

Sponsorship money is still coming in, but more than £550 was raised on the day.
