IT'S not Paul Flynn who is saying the Tory candidate in Newport West was forced on the local party. It’s top Tories.
Former Tory candidate Iain Dale said on radio he ‘knew’ the local party was threatened that they would be ‘disbanded’ if they did not adopt a one woman ‘shortlist’. Tory HQ is bullying local people.
Newport West Tories are the only constituency in Wales to have no choice. The 2015 Tory candidate has tweeted that he asked to go on the shortlist. He was rejected.
Another brilliant potential candidate is ‘hopping mad’ because he was banned from the ‘shortlist’. The imposed Cardiff-based candidate has no record of activity in Newport.
My Newport qualifications are queried. Newport has been my home since since 1962. Newportonians since 1972 have trusted my service to the city and voted for me. I hope that continues.
