HISTORY came to life at a heritage site on the weekend.
The World War One springtime fair took place at Blaenavon Ironworks on Saturday and Sunday. The event included music, re-enactments and living history, Edwardian games for families and the Gwent in the Great War exhibition. Welsh crafts and a working blacksmith gave displays.
Polly Groom from the Yeoman living history group was one of the women at the first aid tent.
She said: “We have our first aid post, where soldiers would have been brought for treatment.
“We have a display of period equipment and in the post there is a military nurse who is talking about the kinds of aid and assistance that were offered.
“People have been really interested and they have been asking lots of interesting questions which is lovely.”
