A CHOIR from Cwmbran is celebrating after being selected to perform in the Great British Proms.

Music group Soul’d as Seen will share the bill with Only Men Aloud and the National Symphony Orchestra at the event in August.

The 65-strong adult gospel/pop choir was set up in April 2014 and is directed by Susie Webb.

Ms Webb, reflecting on the win, thanked people who voted for the choir on social media and music-streaming website, Soundcloud.

She said: “Soul’d As Seen are so incredibly proud and excited to announce that we are going to be performing at The Great British Proms at Bowood House and Gardens with Only Men Aloud and The National Symphony Orchestra.

“Huge thanks to everyone that has voted and sent messages of support (and) massive thanks to the Great British Proms organisers for organising such a wonderful event.”

“We are so very very happy,” she added.

The group will perform in the Great British Proms at Bowood House, in Wiltshire, on August 6.

They rehearse every Tuesday at Bron Afon Housing Association, Cwmbran, from 7.30pm.

They have previously performed at many festivals and venues including the Millennium Centre, Dolman Theatre, St David’s Hall and Cardiff Castle.

Christmas 2016 saw the release of the choir’s first single Christmas Lullaby, which appeared at number five in the Apple Chart.
