A SISTER of Tunisia terror attack victim Trudy Jones has paid poignant tribute to the mother-of-four, her children and her mother, on the second anniversary of the care worker’s death.

Jane Lewis told the Argus the family’s heartbreak at losing “a very precious sister, daughter, mother and grandmother” goes on, but she is always in their thoughts.

“I would like to remember Trudy on this very sad day with the love and warmth of a sister,” said Mrs Lewis, who worked with her younger sister at the Highfields Care Home in Blackwood. “She is truly missed every day - her smile, her character, her love and thoughts for every person that crossed her life path whilst she was with us.

“It’s a true saying, as my dad, who passed away 15 years ago would say - you never know what you’ve got until it’s gone. It’s the hardest thing, and all Trudy’s family have to cope with it every day.”

Mrs Jones, 51, of Blackwood, was among 38 people killed by a gunman at a beach resort at Sousse, in Tunisia, on June 26 2015.

An activities co-ordinator at Highfields Care Home, she was approaching the end of a holiday with friends when the atrocity occurred.

Mrs Lewis also paid fulsome tribute to her and Mrs Jones’ mother Ruth Birchard - whose 85th birthday was on the eve of the anniversary of the death of her youngest daughter - and to Mrs Jones’ children.

“I would like to say to our wonderful mother, as Trudy would say to her, “how are you my love?” That is a very happy and missed phrase and memory. My mam’s truly heartbroken forever. I would like to say to Trudy’s four wonderful children - Gavin, Wayne, Danah and Ryan - and the grandchildren: You are truly brilliant. With what you have to face every day, your mam would be stood up and would be applauding you.

“She truly adored you all. I am so proud of you all and love you from the bottom of my heart, always and forever. Just keep smiling for your mam, she was always smiling.”
