A GREAT TRIP: Members from The Royal Welsh Comrades Association City of Newport branch are pictured in the grounds of The Royal Mint, Llantrisant, on Thursday June 15.

Following the photo shoot the party which also included our friends and guests who are retired members of fire service accompanied by their wives proceeded to the reception area and through the security procedures, to meet up with our tour guide Alison.

Following the usual introductions, she then proceeded to guide us excellently and professionally through the entire procedures in the production of the minted coinage of The Realm , as well as the many coins being produced for a large number of Foreign countries.

With the tour over the party made it’s way to the museum to view the many exhibits of old coins, medals, and awards which a number are produced at The Royal Mint.

Following an interesting and enjoyable tour the party then proceeded to the local hostelry The Three Saints for an excellent luncheon and some liquid refreshments.

Another great day out, well organised, by fellow branch member Lyndon Lewis.
