RAIL passengers are facing delays and some cancellations because of the theft of signalling cables between Cwmbran and Abergavenny.
Emergency signalling arrangements have been implemented which will allow services to run.
The incident has affected services between Cardiff and Manchester.
A statement by Arriva Trains Wales said: “Due to the overnight theft of signalling cables in the Little Mill area, operation of Arriva Trains Wales services between Abergavenny and Cwmbran is expected to be affected for the whole of Monday 26th June.
“Network Rail are implementing emergency signalling arrangements, however there will be delays to services in both directions through the area, and some services may be cancelled.
This disruption affects services between South Wales and Manchester / Holyhead.”
An Arriva Trains Wales spokesman said: “As a result of cable theft in the Little Mill area between Abergavenny and Cwmbran on Sunday night, a number of services between North and South Wales have been affected again this morning. We are working hard with our partners in Network Rail to reduce the impact this will have on passengers, however this theft has caused significant disruption and we urge anyone who is travelling to check their journeys in advance.”
