CHARLTON KINGS are champions of the Moore Allen & Innocent CDCA Women’s League, securing a total of 204 points which cannot be topped after their final league game.

The team finished with yet another strong win, beating Slaughters by nine wickets. Despite confident batting by Penny Hughes (23) and Emma Jones (21), Charlton Kings’ bowlers – Millie Ashford (3-15), Seren Mackenzie (2-7) and Deena Munn (2-8) – contained Slaughters at 83-9.

In response Charlton Kings’ openers Judy Krasker (18) and Millie Ashford (18) soon started finding the gaps. Ashford’s departure, lbw to the bowling of Lynsey Burdock, ushered in Georgia New (31) who wasted no time in hitting boundaries and within 14 overs the total had been reached.

POULTON and Dumbleton’s match was a thriller.

Dumbleton took the early initiative bowling Emma O'Connor for a diamond duck, and dismissing Ceri Hopkins in the second over. With 7-2 on the scoreboard, opener Philippa Dunn and Phoebe Beal steadied the ship before Dunn (27) was bowled by the pick of Dumbleton’s bowlers, Julia Newman (2-19) in the 14th over.

Undeterred, Poulton pushed on with Beal reaching 50* and Poulton just shy of 100.

Dumbleton came out all guns blazing and were soon racking up runs until Philippa Dunn (3-11) interrupted their flow, trapping opener Helen Hopkins lbw then Elysia Fleck (7) was caught by Phoebe Beal and Georgii Bragg (18) bowled.

Michelle Kilminster (17) and Natalie Berry (23) put Dumbleton back in contention and by the final over just 10 runs were needed. However, Poulton’s Jenny Jones not only held her bowling nerve, but took the wicket of Berry, seeing Poulton home to a four-run victory.
