JOSS Labadie will continue as captain of Newport County AFC for the 2017-2018 season.

The midfielder took over as skipper from Scot Bennett after Michael Flynn replaced Graham Westley as manager for the final 12 games of last season.

“Joss is going to be the club captain and Mark O’Brien is going to be the vice-captain, that’s been decided,” said Flynn.

“We’ve got other captains throughout the team like David Pipe, Mickey Demetriou, Scot Bennett, Joe Day and Sean Rigg.

“They are experienced players and not everyone can wear an armband but they don’t need it.

“Joss was very good for me last season in the way he was off the pitch with the players and the way the players listened to him.

“And Mark is an obvious one because I think he’s a winner in the way he trains and the way he plays and that’s something you can’t get enough of, especially at this level.”
