RAIL passengers are being advised not to travel in parts of Gwent due to a fault with line side equipment.

Arriva Trains Wales say the fault is at Abergavenny and that services along the route are severely disrupted.

National Rail‏ have said that there will be no trains between Newport and Hereford until approximately 22:00.

Train services running through this station may be cancelled or delayed by up to two hours.

They advise long distance customers, those travelling between Cardiff and Manchester, intending to use this line are advised to use alternative routes via Birmingham.

Tickats can be used on CrossCountry via any reasonable route and London Midland between Hereford and Birmingham.

Customers wishing to travel to destinations on the line in the local area are advised to seek alternative transport as rail replacement buses will be very limited.

Arriva Trains Wales said they regret the inconvenience caused and assure customers that everything is being done to resolve the situation as rapidly as possible.

They added that compensation may be available for those who have already purchased tickets.
Those planning to travel on this route are advised to regularly check the Arriva Trains Wales website for travel updates.
