A MAN has been arrested following an appeal for information after a man allegedly threatened the public with a knife in the Friar’s Walk shopping centre.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "Due to the overwhelming response from members of the public, a 46 year old man from Newport has now been arrested and charged with criminal damage to property and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place."
Gwent Police said the public were threatened at around 9.43pm on Tuesday, August 8.
The man was described as being approximately 35 years old and 5ft 6in. He was wearing a green top carrying a beige bag.
