UNUSUALLY, I agree with Nationalist Mr Nutt when he highlights the need for more housing (Letters, 14 August).

Unsurprisingly, I don’t agree with him when he says “One power that the Welsh government should use is to give councils money to build council housing for local people [and] to buy long term houses on the market to be renovated.”

Which Welsh Government budgets does Mr Nutt want to cut to provide this extra cash? Hospitals? Schools? The Cardiff city region deal, which will bring millions of investment into our valleys?

I’m sure Mr Nutt will welcome Labour’s commitment to introduce new council homes in Caerphilly county borough over the next 5 years.

I look forward to his Nationalist colleagues supporting Labour’s 2018/19 budget proposals at next February’s Caerphilly council meeting.
