THE Riverfront is getting into the Christmas spirit, preparing for its pantomime.

This year’s festive offering at the Newport venue, in association with the Production Exchange, is Aladdin.

A spokeswoman for The Riverfront said: “Even though we are still in the midst of the Summer holidays, our thoughts turned to Christmas on Tuesday with a sparkling pantomime photo shoot.

“Our three wishes of dry weather, fabulous costumes and a lovely cast were all granted and the countdown to Christmas and The Riverfront’s annual pantomime has begun.

“It is set to be another hit with the Newport audiences as ticket sales are already exceeding last year.”

During the photoshoot, the hero Aladdin, played by Nickcolia King-N’Da, tested out his flying carpet and lamp rubbing skills, whilst the others bonded over silly jokes and fun frolics.

“Returning to The Riverfront stage were two of the most popular cast members from last year - the lovable rogue Richard Elis as the Genie and Liam Tobin as the hilarious Widow Twankey,” she said. “Dafydd Gwyn Howells will be joining the cast this year as the big, bad baddie Abanazar and there will be light relief in the form of everyone’s best friend Wishee Washee played by Aisha Numah.”

The story of this year’s Aladdin will follow lots of colourful characters who join the hero as he struggles to see that good is rewarded and that bad is punished.

Suitable for all ages, Aladdin will run from Tuesday, December 5 to Monday, January 7, with tickets ranging in price from £6 to £20.50.
