A PRIVATE care home in Newport has been granted planning permission for an extension and a new single-storey building to provide space for four more residents.

Newport City Council has approved the application for Woodside care home in Craig-Y-Ceiliog Lane, Bettws, which will involve an extension containing two new bedrooms and a bathroom, as well as a new detached building containing two flats.

No objections were made against the proposal.

In a report, the council’s planning department said the plan “would not harm the visual amenities, access to daylight and privacy of neighbouring occupiers and would maintain the character and appearance of the countryside and the north of Bettws SLA (Special Landscape Area).”

Woodside cares for people with brain injuries, learning disabilities or mental health needs.
