A MAN is searching for the good Samaritan who came to his aid when he was involved in a crash.

Sebastian Lowe, from Bettws in Newport, was riding his motorbike while travelling to a friend’s birthday party earlier this month.

The crash involved two cars at approximately 5.30pm on August 19 on the junction of Eveswell Street and Chepstow Road in Maindee.

Mr Lowe was badly injured in the crash and is searching for the man who sat with him until he was taken to hospital

He said: “As I came to a filter lane a car pulled out and turned right, then I went right to avoid them and I hit another car that was already tuning.”

He was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital with serious injuries including a broken femur, broken toes and bones in his foot as well as serious grazing.

The 23-year-old builds tennis courts for a living and says he will be off work for almost two months following surgery on his leg.

Looking back, he remembers the crash taking place but  he was in and out of consciousness following the incident. A man, who he thinks was walking past the scene with a friend, came to his aid and sat with him until he was taken to hospital.

Mr Lowe said: “The gentleman was quite tall, had short hair and had a few tattoos and he was with me the whole time. He was holding my head and kept me awake and stopped me from getting up.
“He got me a blanket and stuff to cover my legs and was asking about my name, what I do for a living and about my bike, just to calm me down.”

Mr Lowe would like to find the mystery man. He said: “I am very grateful to this man, and if he wasn’t there I could have got up and caused more damage. I want to thank him for his help.”

Although he is in pain, Mr Lowe knows that the outcome could have been a lot worse.

He said: “When I saw the car I thought I wasn’t going to walk away from this. I was awake through the whole thing. I remember flying through the air and landing on the floor. I was in a hell of a lot of pain.

“I still get flashbacks of the crash, and when I went past the scene after crash my heart was racing.”

He had no long-term damage, but his motorbike was severely damaged and Mr Lowe added that he won’t be getting back on a motorbike again and plans to sell his other bike.

Mr Lowe also wanted to apologise to the woman driving the car he collided with. He said: “I would like to say sorry for the accident because I’m sure she was shook up afterwards."
