BURNING Duck Comedy Club will celebrate three years of presenting alternative comedy in York on September 16 by presenting its biggest show yet: Paul Foot's 'Tis A Pity She's A Piglet at The Crescent Community Venue in The Crescent.

"The show that offended a thousand piglets is back," says Foot's publicity machine. "Honed by an extensive tour of four countries across six continents, this is Paul's Pandora's box of laughter!"

In Foot's first new show in two years, Professor Ketchup and his Camembert piglet join forces as he tackles the big issues, not least terrorism, plus Ant'n' Dec, Immigration X-Factor and breakfast.

The multi-award winning Foot has appeared on such television and radio programmes as Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Would I Lie To You, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Russell Howard’s Good News and The Infinite Monkey Cage on BBC Radio 4.

Looking ahead, Mae Martin will play The Basement on October 18, presenting Dope, the show that brought her a Best Show nomination at this summer's Edinburgh Fringe.

The storytelling star of BBC Radio 4’s Mae Martin’s Guide To 21st Century Sexuality will be on her debut British tour, examining a lifetime of obsessions, fandom and addiction while "shining a light on that one weird shrimp we all have in our brains that is happy to pursue short-term pleasure despite long-term consequences".

Burning Duck promoter Al Greaves says: "We're delighted with our programme of upcoming shows in York. We've booked a diverse line-up of the best established and up-and-coming acts, including popular stars from TV and radio such as Ed Gamble and Josie Long.

"We've also booked several Edinburgh Fringe successes, including Mae Martin, whose show Dope was nominated for best show at this year's Edinburgh Fringe.

"We've had an exciting few years at Burning Duck, and were also very pleased to see both Lucy Pearman and Matt Ewins being nominated for best newcomer at last month's Edinburgh Fringe, following their York performances at The Basement at City Screen last year and we look forward to presenting more comedy shows in York and possibly further afield."
