So NEWPORT Council is considering scrapping council representation on the board of Newport City Homes. The timing is not good given Grenfell and the serious concerns about the running of the Kensington housing body.
Whilst a different set up and run to English standards, it does show the risks of getting it wrong.

Therefore, it is surprising that the paper presented to senior councillors on Wednesday is flawed.

It does not outline the risks and skips over the independence of board members to speak out.

It does not provide a full assessment of the benefits of retaining the council voice; instead there is a terse sentence.

The bottom line is that there is no need to rush this decision.

So I hope they will think again, kick it back and get other councillors to look at it first.
