UPDATE: 6.50am

STORM Aileen which hit Wales last night with wind speeds of up to 75 mph has left some areas of Gwent without power.

There is an estimated 25 houses in Risca - including on Mountain Road - and Cwmbran without power.

Some of the affected houses are expected to have power again by 10am.

The Weather Office had issued a yellow warning for wind and rain between 8pm tonight and 10am yesterday.

Storm Aileen is the first storm to be named since this season’s names were released last week, as part of the scheme by the Met Office and Met Eireann to raise awareness of extreme weather in the UK and Ireland.
