YORK’S Little Festival of Live Music is in the running for a fistful of honours in the 2017 Yorkshire Gig Guide Awards.

The award organisers have announced their top five nominees in each category and Ellen Cole's York festival had made the list for Yorkshire’s Outstanding New Festival, Yorkshire’s Outstanding Promotion, Yorkshire’s Outstanding Contribution and the People’s Choice Awards.

"I'm over the moon that the festival has reached the top five in the Yorkshire Gig Guide awards," says Ellen, the festival's curator. "We never expected to get through in one category, but four categories is such an honour.

"We always strive to offer an exceptional musical experience for our audiences and to offer them the opportunity to see a wide genre of music from country to surf rock and from power pop to reggae. We have something for everyone to enjoy.

"In addition, we also work hard to create a fully accessible venue; we've been praised by numerous disability and parent groups for our commitment to offer an inclusive and fun festival for everyone to enjoy."

This year's festival will run from September 22 to 24 and September 26 to 30 in the Music Marquee on Parliament Street, York, where the live music can be heard each evening from 5pm to 9pm. "Our 2017 line-up includes legendary performers; new and upcoming artists; acts who rarely play in York; bands and musicians who are back after a hiatus from the limelight, plus so much more," says Ellen. "You should expect many musical delights."

Among the acts will be Chris Helme; Heather Findlay; Edwina Hayes; Grinny Grandad; Toni Bunnell; Leather’o; Dan Webster; Joshua Burnell & Band; Supermoon; Laura Kindelan; Smith n Wallace and Fiona Lee.

Taking part too will be Paul Lewis; Simon Bolley Band; Slack Habits; Mulholland; The Bronze; Kitty VR; Bull; Andy Doonan; The Blueprints; Flora Greysteel; Kitsch; Atomic Raygun; Kymberley Kennedy; Gracie Falls; Boss Caine and Ramble Gamble.

Entry is free; everyone is welcome. Throughout the event, the festival will be fundraising for York Mind, a charity that helps those with mental ill-health. "Any donations, however big or small, will be greatly appreciated," says Ellen.

The winners of the 2017 Yorkshire Gig Guide awards will be revealed at an awards ceremony at Pocklington Arts Centre on October 7.
