TRADING standards are asking people to exercise caution when dealing with anyone selling goods or services on the doorstep.
Following several reports of cold calling in the Risca area by a business claiming to be working with trading standards and the police, Caerphilly’s Trading Standards are encouraging residents to exercise caution when dealing with cold callers.
They issued a warning that businesses claiming to be working with the knowledge of the police or the council are unlikely to be true.
Trading standards said that householders who are thinking of having work done should never agree to having work done on the spot and say you want a second opinion. They advise people to obtain a number of quotes before agreeing to have the work done and never pay money up front.
