GWENT Police have ended their investigation into an alleged sexual assault in Rogerstone after no arrests were made.
The Afon Village area was closed off on Tuesday, August 1 after officers received reports of a “serious assault on a woman” which took place between 3.10am and 5.40am that morning.
A cordon was in place with parts of Risca Road and Rivermead Way closed off to vehicles and pedestrians, as well as footpaths in the area.
However, Gwent Police have confirmed that no further action will be taken in relation to the alleged incident at this time.
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: “At the beginning of August, we appealed for information following the report of an alleged sexual assault in the Afon Village area of Rogerstone, Newport.
“Following a detailed investigation, the case has now been concluded.
“At this time, no arrests have been made and no-one is being sought in connection with the investigation.
“Reports of this nature are taken extremely seriously by Gwent Police but at this time, we will be taking no further action.”
