A FOOTBALL tournament will be taking place this Sunday in the Pill area of Newport.

The tournament, which is being hosted by the Pill Residents’ Board, Gwent Police and Communities First, will be starting at 11am in the Pill Mill, in Courtybella Terrace.

There will be teams from Associated British Ports (ABP), Pill Harriers, Dock Cons, Newport City Homes, Communities First and Gwent Police.

Pam Glover, a member of the Pill Residents’ Board, said: “Pill has always been a strong sporting community.

“Sport is a unifier and an equaliser – you are all equal once you are in the team.

“It will be an opportunity to get together.”

Mrs Glover said there will be bouncy castles and face painting as well, amongst others, and that all proceeds raised will be going to St Michael’s RC Primary School, in Baldwin Close, to help them raise funds for their garden and play area.

She thanked all the teams and sponsors.
