A YELLOW weather warning of wind remains in place in Monmouthshire which has “potential for disruption to transport, tree damage and temporary power cuts”.

The area affected includes predominantly northern and central areas of Wales, as well as England.

“Westerly winds will bring gusts of 40 to 50 mph, and locally into 60s of mph. In addition, rain will be heavy at times, especially over northwest England and north Wales,” said the Met Office’s forecaster.

“Whilst this weather is not unusual for the time of year, it brings the potential for disruption to transport, tree damage and temporary power cuts.”

The weather warning was put in place at 9pm last night and is due to end at 9am this morning.
