MOTORISTS have been warned to be vigilant after a spate of van break-ins which has seen high value tools stolen in Abergavenny.

Vans were broken into in Park Avenue, Queen Street and Derwen Way, Abergavenny on Tuesday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 11.

Around £1,500 worth of electrical tools were stolen from a white transit van in Queen Street at around 00.20am on October 11.

Tools were stolen from a white transit van transit in Park Avenue in Abergavenny between 5pm on October 10 and and 7.20am on October 11.

Tools were also stolen from a parked van in Derwen Way, Abergavenny, between 7.30pm on October 10 and 7.30am on October 11.

PC Jon Sliczny said: "We are currently investigating each reported crime and asking residents to lock their vehicles at all times.

“Where possible, I would advise van owners to remove expensive tools from their vehicles at the end of each day.

“It’s also a good idea to property mark your tools and equipment, so that if they are recovered they can be traced back to you.

“Following these recent thefts, I would encourage van owners to be particularly vigilant. If anyone sees anything suspicious in their area, then please get in contact with us.”
