TORFAEN council is asking organisers of borough firework displays to voluntarily register their events with Environmental Health.
With Bonfire Night approaching, this free scheme covers organised events of all sizes and is designed to try and ensure that everyone has a happy, accident free event.
Officers from the council will offer pre-event guidance to those planning and running displays in the county borough and will visit both before and during the event.
Cllr Fiona Cross, Torfaen council’s executive member with responsibility for licensing, said: “Our environmental health staff are trained in firework safety and can offer help and advice to firework event organisers in the run up to the display and visit on the night itself.
“To do this we need to be aware that an event is taking place so please get in touch to register your fireworks event.”
