BETTWS residents rallied round this weekend to put on a Bonfire Night display on Sunday - after their bonfire was set alight on Saturday night.
Bettws Cllr Kevin Whitehead said they normally have a big bonfire on the estate, at the top of Monnow Way, with many residents bringing materials for the bonfire.
"However, somebody lit the bonfire overnight on Saturday," he said. "Organisers then put a call out and had a massive response.
"They put a bigger and better display. I would say about 250 people go there every year."
Mr Whitehead said organisers were cleaning up the area yesterday.
"This shows the fantastic community spirit there is in Bettws," he added. "People here come together and rally round each other."
