A MAN is in hospital after being rescued from a river in Cwmbran.
Members of the public had spotted the man in the water near Blenheim Road and police were called at around 8.45am this morning.
The 26-year-old was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital by the Welsh Ambulance Service where he is currently being treated.
A witness told the Argus that the man was "lucky to be alive" and claimed that he was found wearing no socks or shoes.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman says his condition is "not thought to be life-threatening."
