A FUNDRAISER who drove more than 76 miles in a wheelchair in charity challenge made a stop in Newport yesterday.
Adam Stanton-Wharmby, of Cheltenham, has cerebral palsy which leaves him unable to walk or use his left arm.
Over the weekend, the 34-year-old fundraiser drover his powered wheelchair 76.1 miles from his home along registered cycle routes in Gwent.
After passing through Monmouthshire, Torfaen and Newport, he finished at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff .
He said the purpose of the charity challenge was to raise awareness many online and physical maps don’t display disability accessible routes symbols”.
Mr Stanton-Wharmby took on the challenge with members of charity ‘Turbo Trust’ to help raise £12,000 for a new high-performance elevated powerchair.
The charity’s primary purpose is to help people with severe mobility impairments and to help people stay active.
A statement published on his GoFundMe page added: “ As a charity volunteer that teaches wheelchair skills to kids, I also want to inspire the next generation to be the strong and independent people I know they can be”.
