A TRUCK belonging to a man who was knocked over as he tried to prevent it being stolen last week, has been found in Gloucestershire.

Anthony Halse, owner of Sunnyside Nurseries at Langstone, was thrown onto the bonnet of the Nissan Navara and into a lane of the A48 last Friday afternoon as he went to confront the man who had stolen it.

He told the Argus, the latter drove at him deliberately.

Gwent Police confirmed the Navara has since been found in Gloucestershire, and is being examined by forensics officers.

The two-tonne truck was stolen at around 1.30pm last Friday from the nurseries car park.

Mr Halse, who had given chase in his car, found it just moments later parked in bus lay-by opposite Park End in Langstone. It was as he approached the truck that the thief drove it at him.

He sustained bruising and muscle injuries, and was left severely shaken.

Mr Halse's wife Nicola said her husband remains extremely shocked by his ordeal, and she urged anyone who may have seen the man who stole the truck before or after the incident, to contact the police.

"It is vital he is caught. Anyone who can drive at someone else like that, deliberately, is very dangerous," she said.

"Anthony is still shaken up. He was very lucky to walk away from that."

Sergeant Mervyn Priest of Gwent Police said the investigation is ongoing "and CCTV inquiries are continuing."

"The offender is described as a white man in his 20s with dark hair and a dark beard," he said.

"I would urge anyone with information to please call us on 101, quoting log number 242 17/11/17.

"Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
