ST DAVID'S Hospice's new inpatient unit has been selected as finalist for an award.

The new unit - which had its first patients move in in June this year - is a regional finalist for the Civic Trust Awards 2018.

The 15-bed unit cost £5m to build and it's aim is to expand the hospice’s inpatient palliative care service for patients with life threatening or terminal illnesses.

It was designed by KKE Architects and each room has its own patio area.

From 234 applications, 60 National and International Winners will be presented with an Award or Commendation at the 59th Annual Civic Trust Awards in Old Trafford on Friday, March 9, 2018.

Chief executive of St David's Hospice Care, Emma Saysell said: "We are really thrilled to be nominated. We believe it's a fantastic building.

"We think the architecture and design is fantastic, we are seeing the benefits and the patients are loving it."
