MIDFIELDER Matty Dolan believes a bumper crowd can inspire Newport County AFC to victory over Crewe Alexandra at Rodney Parade on Saturday.

Tickets for the match are just £5 and Dolan says an increased attendance can inspire County to claim the three points that will put them back in the frame for a play-off place.

“With it being a fiver a ticket, hopefully everyone can get here, and we can get that bumper crowd in,” Dolan told iFollow Exiles.

“As footballers, you want to play in-front of the big crowds and you want to perform on the biggest stage that you can.

“So let’s get everyone into Rodney Parade and let’s get the three points.”

The 25-year-old continued: “I think you saw when we brought the massive crowds to Tottenham and that Chesterfield game at the start of the season, they are atmospheres that you will never forget as footballers.

“To be fair to them, they create that home and away. I think the away following last week was amazing, it spurred us on and we hope we’ll give them something to shout about next week.”

Crewe are struggling at the wrong end of the table but Dolan is not underestimating the challenge that they will pose.

“They are a very good footballing side on their day,” he added.

“I think they are fighting for their lives down there so that will be tough. We’ll go out there and hopefully get them three points.

“They went down to 10 men in the last game against us, so we know that they have quality. They are a good young side, so we will have to do our homework on them all week.

“We’ll do everything we can to get three points because there’s not a chance in hell that we are going to let the season peter out.”
