RESIDENTS will be paying a visit to Sodbury's French twin town next month, and there are still a couple of places left on the trip.

Members of the Sodbury & District Twinning Association will be travelling to Cesson, south east of Paris, from Friday, May 26 to Tuesday, May 29, where accommodation will be provided with host families.

The Cesson Twinning group has organised a selection of events for the weekend, including a tour of Provins, a medieval town near to Paris.

There are still some places left to join the visit, anyone interested in goingis asked to contact Mike Pearce (01454 323702) or Jana Mas (07741 301959).

Sodbury's continental connection began when British and French aviation engineers worked together on the British-French Concorde Project at Filton.

A twinning committee was formed in 1978, and official charter ceremonies between Cesson and Sodbury Town and Dodington Parish Councils took place in 1979.

Since then regular visits have been arranged in both directions by the twinning committees in Sodbury and district and Cesson.

The Twinning Association aims to foster friendship and understanding between the people of Sodbury and the people of Cesson.
